About Meal Matcher
Founded in 2024, Meal Matcher is the work of a small UK team that got tired of food waste, repetitive dinners, and shopping lists that didn't match the actual aisle. We've spent two years building software that does the boring bits — so you can get on with the cooking.

Our story
Meal Matcher began at university, where eating well, keeping variety, and staying within a tight budget felt like a part-time job. Most weeks ended with the same five dinners, half a bag of spinach turning brown, and a vague sense that the maths wasn't quite working.
The fix wasn't a new diet or a meal kit. It was better planning — the kind that takes calories, allergies, schedules, and what's actually in your nearest shop into account. So we built it.
Two years on, Meal Matcher plans dinners for thousands of UK households, from busy parents to nutritionists managing client caseloads. The mission hasn't changed: take the boring bits off your plate, leave the cooking to you.

Our mission
Everyone deserves food that's good for them, easy on the wallet, and built around the supermarket they actually shop at. No expensive boxes. No 12-step diet. Just a plan that works on a Tuesday night.
Budget-aware
Plans that respect a real weekly food spend, not a meal-kit markup.
Shop-ready
Lists matched to UK supermarket aisles, with pricing where available.
Goal-driven
Calories, macros, allergens, and dislikes baked in from the start.
Less waste
Leftover-aware plans so the spinach actually gets used.
How we work
Behind every Meal Matcher plan there's the same quiet workflow — your goals, our recipe library, and a shopping list that respects how you actually shop.
Every plan is calibrated to your calories, diet, allergens, household, and the days you want to cook.
Recipes share ingredients where it makes sense, so the basket stays small and the freezer stays empty.
Step-by-step recipes, macros to hand, and a shopping list that lines up with how UK shops actually work.

We were spending easily £150 a week and still binning food on a Sunday. The Meal Matcher plan dropped us to about £120, the kids actually eat the dinners, and I haven't opened Pinterest for "easy weeknight meals" in months.
"Hitting protein without eating chicken and rice five nights a week was the big one. Plans land within 5g of my target most days and I actually look forward to dinner now."

"Most planners give you the same six veggie meals. Meal Matcher mixes it up properly and my Sainsbury's order matches the list almost exactly. No more wandering aisles."

"I run my whole client nutrition workflow through it now. Saves me hours every Sunday and the clients stick to plans they actually like the look of."

"We used to argue about what to cook every single night. Now Sunday is plan night, the M&S shop arrives Monday, and the rest of the week just runs itself."

"Genuinely could not cook six months ago. The plans pick recipes I can actually follow and the Aldi list keeps the bill under £40. Cooked Thai green curry from scratch last week — would not have happened without this."

"I have coeliac disease and most planning apps just slap "GF" on everything and call it a day. Meal Matcher actually swaps ingredients out properly and flags anything risky. Huge relief."
