Method
0 of 12 done- Preheat the oven to 180°C (160°C fan) / 350°F / Gas Mark 4.
- Heat the olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the minced beef to the pan and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the tomato passata, dried oregano, and season with salt and black pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes until the sauce has thickened.
- While the beef sauce is simmering, prepare the béchamel sauce. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the plain flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to form a paste.
- Gradually add the milk, whisking continuously to avoid lumps, until the mixture is smooth and thickened, about 3-5 minutes.
- Remove the béchamel sauce from heat and stir in half of the grated Parmesan cheese.
- In a small ovenproof dish, spread a thin layer of the beef sauce on the bottom. Place one lasagne sheet on top, followed by more beef sauce and a layer of béchamel. Repeat the layers, ending with a layer of béchamel sauce.
- Sprinkle the remaining Parmesan cheese on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden and the lasagne sheets are cooked through.
- Let the lasagne rest for a few minutes before serving to allow the layers to set.
